Readings in Liberalism: Now published in Indonesian

The Indonesian Freedom Institute, one of the partners of the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit in Indonesia, recently translated a book of the Liberal Institute called “Readings in Liberalism” into Bahasa Indonesia. It contains 15 chapters, including articles from Friedrich August von Hayek, John Locke, David Hume, and several other liberal thinkers.

In 2009, the Freedom Institute and the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit Indonesia conducted several programmes involving university students. The programmes aimed at disseminating ideas about freedom and liberal values among students and the youth. What followed were several book discussions on globalization, workshops on freedom and democracy, film screenings and discussions about property rights, and a short course on liberalism in a number of universities all over Indonesia.

A frequent complaint during those programs was the lack of basic information or simple explanations of liberal values and thoughts from influential liberal thinkers, especially in Indonesian.

The publication of this book is another contribution of Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit Indonesia to the discussion of ideologies which has now started in Indonesia. It provides readings in liberalism in Bahasa Indonesia.
