A five day South Asian regional workshop on ‘Running a Successful Liberal Youth Organisation’ was organized by Liberal Youth South Asia (LYSA), supported by Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung.

The workshop was hosted by Youth Initiative, which is one of the founder member organizations of LYSA. The workshop was held from 29 March – 2 April, 2007, in Kathmandu.

A working session
A total of 16 young liberals from 5 countries (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) participated in the workshop. Three member organizations of LYSA (Future Youth Group from Pakistan, Liberal Youth Guilds from Sri Lanka and Youth Initiative from Nepal), two prospective members from India (Prabodh and Center for Public Policy Research) and one from Bangladesh were represented at the workshop.

The main objective of the seminar were (1.) to train members and activists of the South Asian youth organizations on promoting liberal values in their respective countries, and (2.) to identify the specifically "liberal" aspects of these organizations, in contrast to a lot of other, "normal" youth organizations.

The workshop was organized very professionally. The sessions flowed into each other and provided ample opportunity for all the participants to learn from each other. The tools of strategy planning were used during the workshop.
